Normal Sounds (work in progress)
In collaboration with Christina Sadovnikov

Normal Sounds is an installation in development that explores the forms and sonic identities of everyday objects—keys in a pocket, chewing gum, loose change, a lighter clicking—objects we hold, touch, and carry close to our bodies. Christina is recreating these objects by crocheting fine metal wire into small sculptural forms that echo their shapes, while I record and assemble the sounds they produce. Each object becomes the source for multiple short soundscapes composed in Ableton Live, revealing different facets of its sonic character.

These sculptures and soundscapes are connected through an interactive system built in Max/MSP, where touching a sculpture triggers one of its associated soundscapes. As the project evolves, Normal Sounds continues to explore the relationship between touch and sound—transforming ordinary contact into an aesthetic experience that reanimates the familiar and makes the everyday intimate.
